Short version: ShoutyTimer is a local-first interval timer. We do not collect, sell, or share personal information. All your timer schedules and custom audio files stay on your device.
1Information We Collect
ShoutyTimer is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not create user accounts, ask for personal information, or run our own analytics servers.
The data you create inside the app — timer schedules, custom voice recordings, and preferences — is stored only on your iPhone or iPad. It is never uploaded to us.
2Permissions the App Requests
Depending on which features you use, ShoutyTimer may ask iOS for the following permissions:
- Microphone access — required only if you enable Microphone Mode for repetition-based practice (e.g. speech therapy or language drills). Audio captured by the microphone is processed on-device and is never transmitted off the device.
- File access — used when you import your own audio files to replace the built-in voice cues (Start, Half, Five-Four, Last One, Tick, 2 More). Files you select are read directly from your device.
- Background audio — allows the app to keep speaking your interval cues while your screen is locked or another app is in front.
3How Your Data Is Used
The information stored on your device is used solely to provide the app's functionality:
- Run the interval timer and announce phases out loud.
- Save your schedules so you can re-use them across sessions.
- Play your custom audio cues at the right moments.
Your data is not sent anywhere. There is no remote server that "knows" about your workouts.
4Third-Party Services
ShoutyTimer is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download or update the app, Apple may collect certain information governed by Apple's own privacy policy — including aggregated, anonymized App Store analytics and crash reports. ShoutyTimer does not embed third-party advertising, marketing, or tracking SDKs.
You can review Apple's privacy practices at apple.com/legal/privacy.
5Data Storage & Deletion
Because everything lives on your device, you control your data fully. To delete it:
- Remove individual schedules or custom audio files from inside the app.
- Or uninstall ShoutyTimer — iOS will remove all of the app's local data.
6Children's Privacy
ShoutyTimer is suitable for general audiences and is not directed specifically at children under 13. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect it from children either.
7Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes — for example, if we ever add a feature that involves new data — we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version on this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
